Read Gina Dalfonzo’s “A Christmas Carol for the Cancel Culture”

Charles Dickens was that rarity in literature—an enormously popular novelist who, after his death, is still canonical. His books are still assigned in high schools all over the country, and even more impressively, they’re still loved and read for fun by readers of every sort. Our guest today on Christian Humanist Profiles is Gina Dalfonzo, who says that we’re missing something essential in Dickens if we don’t notice the degree to which his literary and moral imagination were shaped by Christian belief and practice. Her new book, The Gospel in Dickens, a collection of excerpts from his novels and letters, is out now from Plough Books.
