Kristen Filipic grew up in Central Ohio and attended Kenyon College studying philosophy, classics, and the Integrated Program in Humane Studies while her parents wondered about employability. After some stern lectures from her college advisor about the realities of the academic job market, she went off to the Jesuit Volunteer Corps after graduation and then moved to Chicago to the last refuge of liberal arts majors – law school.
Now settled in Boston, she fights housing discrimination while coordinating interviews for Christian Humanist Profiles, knitting (mostly socks) and enjoying living in a quirky Boston neighborhood.
She currently splits her church time among a Reformed Evangelical congregation, a progressive Episcopal congregation, and an order of Catholic nuns founded specifically to work with mass media. She confuses them all.
