Human beings have been telling one another stories as long as there’s been language, and probably even before that. And a huge component of human thought is devoted to the decoding and explanation of those stories—which is itself another kind of story. Human beings are storytelling animals, which means to understand ourselves, we have to understand the sort of stories we tell ourselves about ourselves, and why. Our guest today on Christian Humanist Profiles is Christina Bieber Lake, whose latest book from the University of Notre Dame Press is called Beyond the Story.
