The Gifford Lectures have always taken as their project to “promote and diffuse the study of natural theology in the widest sense of the term,” and some of the best books to come out of that lecture series have tested just how wide the term can be. In 2018 N.T. Wright was the Gifford lecturer, and his persistent question through his lectures aimed for that breadth: In what ways could a strong re-examination of history challenge the boundaries of and benefit the project of natural theology?  And perhaps the second question is like unto the first: how have distorted notions of history distorted in turn the project called natural theology? The volume that came out of those inquiries is History and Eschatology: Jesus and the Promise of Natural Theology, and Christian Humanist Profiles is thrilled to welcome N.T.
