Christian Humanist Profiles 87: Kierkegaard: A Single Life

Søren Kierkegaard’s enduring popularity might be due as much to his unconventional and stephen-backhouse-cover-artfascinating life as to his writing. Most of our listeners are, I’m sure, familiar with its central event, Kierkegaard’s broken engagement to Regine Olsen, echoes of which recur throughout his philosophy, but many of us have trouble contextualizing that engagement with the rest of Kierkegaard’s 42 years. Our guest today on Christian Humanist Profiles is Stephen Backhouse, author of, most recently, Kierkegaard: A Single Life.
