The poet Charles Hughes’s first collection of poems, 2014’s Cave Art, wasn’t published until he was in his sixties, after more than three decades working as a lawyer. Michial Farmer read that book almost by accident to review it for the Englewood Review of Books and was surprised and delighted by its treatment of the fragility of love in a world of death. Now, seven years later, Hughes has published his second collection. It’s called The Evening Sky, and it’s available now from Wiseblood Books.
